Your Jesus Message of the Day: Be a Selfless Messenger of God

Your Jesus Message of the Day:

Be a Selfless Messenger of God
00:00:00
00:00:00

As a child of God you have an important task on this planet. You need to be selflessly devoted to Him and spread His word to all that you meet. You can do this through your words and your actions. But most importantly you need to remain selfless. Spreading the word of God for your own fame or gain is not what God wants. He wants you to be humble. He wants you to spread My message of love for the sake of others, not for your own sake. Today’s devotional is there to help you see the difference between doing things in the name of God and doing them for your own gain.

Mark 8:34 ESV

“If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.”

What I Expect of You

I don’t expect you to be the perfect person. But I do expect you to realize that you should not use My message to line your own pockets or for fame and glory. Remember, it is My message, you are just a vessel through which I speak.

The King Who Lost His Mind

In the time of Daniel the prophet there was a King named Nebuchadnezzar. The king had a prophetic dream about a statue made out of different metals that eventually got toppled over and destroyed by a large rolling stone. Daniel was the only one who, with the help of God, could interpret the dream. Where every different metal represented every different successful kingdom on Earth's timeline. Unfortunately the head of the statue, which was gold, represented the King’s kingdom. Babylon. This went to the king’s head and he demanded that an entire statue like the one is his dream would be made but entirely of gold. And he demanded that his people bow down and worship it. God was angered because instead of listening to the warning in his dream, the king became vain, greedy, and started worshiping idols and money. As a result of this the king was cursed with 7 years of insanity that led him to live outside and eat grass like an animal. After this time he became humbled and declared that there was only one true God.

The Tiny Tax Collector

During My ministry on earth there was a rich young tax collector named Zacchaeus. He had heard about My teachings and wanted desperately to see My face too, but he was a very short man. So he climbed up into a wild fig tree so he could see My face from up above the crowds. I saw him and I knew about him because I had planned to eat with him that day. So I told him: “Zacchaeus, come down from there. Because I will be coming to your house today.” Zacchaeus had a lot of guilt and shame. He had tricked the people by asking for too much tax money, and keeping the excess money for himself. And when he met Me he owned up to his crime and promised to pay back 4 times what he stole from his people. His money didn’t save him, but I did.

The Rich Young Ruler

During My ministry on earth there was a rich young ruler who desperately wanted to know what he could do to enter the kingdom of Heaven. He had everything anyone could dream of, but he was still depressed. I told him that he needed to sell all of his possessions, give his money to the poor, and come and follow Me. But he was a very wealthy man. And all he could think about was how much money he would have to give away, because he had lots of it. He wasn’t able to do what I told him to do and he turned around and walked away sadder than when he came to Me. That is the problem with wealth. It won’t fill the hole in your heart that only God can fill. No matter how much you have. And the more you have, the more you have to worry about thieves taking it from you by force.

The Good Samaritan

I told a story to My followers of a man who was robbed and mugged and left by the side of the road to die. He was stripped of all his clothes and money and left for dead. A pastor came upon him on the road but looked the other way and walked on by. Likewise another man with a high position in church walked past him and looked the other way. But then a Samaritan man came to him. Gave him his over clothes. Put him on his horse and took him to an inn where he could be nursed back to health. The Samaritan was from a different race than the man that he helped, in a country where racism between these two peoples was a big problem. How is it that the pastor and the other religious man who are supposed to represent Me, didn’t flinch at the sight of a dying man? But a man from a hated race took him and paid for his medical expenses, and even gave him his clothes. This is a lesson that you shouldn’t judge someone based on what job he does, the color of his skin, or how rich he is. Instead you should treat everyone as equal and be humble.

Mark 8:36 ESV

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”
