#15 - The Bear

The Bear is often a sign of finances, either good or bad. Just as wall street has the bull and bear markets, so too speaks the bear card. It’s kind of ironic, because in the stock industry the bull is good and the bear is bad, but as there isn’t a bull card, the bear stands for finances in general. Specifically, the bear card is a sign that your finances will improve, your resources will pool. It may indicate an upcoming trip to a bank or an ATM, or a future raise. You may win a small lottery prize or a larger sweepstakes. You might be in line to get a surprise bonus or financial windfall that is unexpected. Perhaps you will be named as the heir in an estate or trust. It may also be a reminder that financial troubles may lay ahead, so now is the time to be prudent and to get your financial resources saved up. It may be the time to invest in an annuity, fund, or stock. Now may be the perfect time and chance to make that leap into an investment that you were questioning. It may be time to protect your assets physically by investing in a safe or alarm system at home, so that a bear is protecting fiercely your assets. Another meaning of the bear card is that it may be a sign to check out your physicality, including your muscles, torso, and your stomach. The bear may indicate digestive problems or eating disorders as well.

#15

15 is an important number in Judaism and Passover, Sukkot, and Tu Bishvat all begin on the 15th days of the respective months. In Hispanic cultures, 15 is the age where a girl celebrates her quinceañera. In some countries, 15 is the legal age of consent for marriage or sexual intercourse. There are 15 minutes in the quarter of each hour, ironic because quarter is also a financial term. 15 could indicate that a financial change will occur on the 15th minute, day, week, month, or even 15th year. The time could be 3:00 or even 3:15. In numerology, the number one is a very ambitious and smart, energetic leader. The number five is Mercury, planet of business and finance. When you combine those two, you get a very ambitious and smart leader of business and finance. It’s easy to see how these qualities all pooled together make for very sound financial decisions and investments. 15 is the perfect number to be paired with the bear card.

#35 - Anchor

An anchor is a large and heavy piece of metal, in an “anchor” shape — see the picture if you’re not familiar with the shape. It’s a very specific cross like shape, with the open bottom of an ‘o” shape underneath it, and often something at the top in a circular shape for which to tie a heavy rope through. An anchor, if you aren’t familiar with it, is what stops a boat and prevents it from moving around or drifting freely on open water. When the Navigator and Captain of the ship get to their destination, if a dock is not available, they throw an anchor overboard into the water. It’s weight combined with it’s speed of water entry sinks the anchor into the mud below the water, and the ship is prevented from blowing off course. To some, the anchor can symbolize being trapped— that the boat can no longer move freely, and that it is quite literally stuck in one place, but really, the anchor is symbolic of a stable and sturdy path, that you will not blow off of unless something truly sensational happens (like a large storm, perhaps).

In a card reading, the anchor symbolizes a good base or home— that you are locked in to the correct job or career path, or that you are stable in your financial or love life. You have picked your path and chosen it wisely and you will not be deterred from this path for any reason, barring really serious or unexpected changes or events. You should really dedicate yourself to this plan, invest money in it if you haven’t already, perhaps buy an engagement ring for your girlfriend, do whatever you can to make sure that you stay on this course and that it becomes permanent. The anchor symbolizes security and setting down. Perhaps you are starting a family, maybe you’re buying a new home. Maybe you have finally moved across the country— whatever it is, this change is permanent, and you have set your anchor down and will be here for awhile, you might as well do whatever you can do to make it the best situation possible. The anchor can refer to health stability, and also the parts of the body that need to be and keep us the most stable, like our feet, pelvis, and core. It can also symbolize your dental hygiene, as the early Greek word for anchor was “teeth”. It can also refer to or represent the colors of dark blue and navy blue.

#35

The number 35 is the sum of the first five triangular numbers, making it a tetrahedral number. This is interesting because this shape very closely resembles the shape of an anchor. 35 is also considered a “centered cube number” which corresponds to the anchor because it keeps things centered and in place. 35 is the highest number one can count to on one’s fingers using base 6. 35 as an age is the time in life where most people are considered truly grown up, while 18 is the age of consent and 21 is usually the age of full adulthood, 35 is the time where people begin to be respected as good decision makers. The minimum age of the candidates in the United States (and also Ireland) for the office President is 35. 35 is also the gauge of film used most often for photography. 35, like the anchor, is a knowledgeable number, and a number that makes permanent decisions, or memories permanent through things like law and photography. As it relates to time, 35 can symbolize the 35th minute, 35th day, 35th week or 35th month. It can be more specific, referring to something like May 3rd or March 5th, or the time of 3:51pm, for example. If you were looking to make an anchor decision and needed to choose a date for the birth of a child, marriage proposal, or new home closing, these would all be excellent choices for that date.

Bear + Anchor

Because the Bear card can refer to protection or being over protective, and the Anchor card can refer to your home or security, these two cards together means that you are feeling insecure about your home, family, or friends. You are in need of stability and certainty in order to get back to a comfortable and secure state with those close to you.

Numerology

The Bear is represented by the number 15, and the Anchor is represented by the number 35. When we combine them we get the number 50. Since 50 isn’t a single digit number, we add the 5 + 0 to get the number 5.

The Number 5

Five is the number of days in a standard work week. It’s the number of fingers on hands and feet. Without even one toe, we have trouble walking. Without even one finger, we have trouble using our hands. Our roots are important and our feet are the foundation upon which our body stands and grows tall. Protect them. Five may indicate 5:00, Friday, or the letter E. In Chinese culture, the number 5 represents the elements: water, fire, metal, earth, and wood.

For this week to be a 5, it means that this week also is elemental and vital to your success this month and year. Do not let your home fall by the wayside while you work long hours at the office. Don’t neglect your husband or wife and children as you meet new people and complete new goals. This is the week to step back from the intense work you’ve been doing, check in on the homefront, and establish social connections. Have a little bit of fun, but make sure your roots are squarely planted and that your relationships are where they need to be.

As it relates to Lenormand cards, the card closely related to the number five is the tree. The tree is one of the most powerful symbols in our everyday lives. We see trees everywhere. It’s a yoga pose, a symbol of life, we even chart our families with trees and their branches. Trees represent earth’s circle of life. Without the soil and water from our Earth, they would surely die. Without them, animals and beings wouldn’t have air to breathe. The tree is one of the most important life giving plants in almost every culture. A tree is strong, grows tall, and is rooted into the ground. Trees are also symbolic of ritual, forest, spells, and different types of magic or magick. What a perfect number to correlate with the tree, which makes fire, drinks water, is as strong as metal, and is literally wood that comes from the earth.

A card with an image of a tree indicates that you are beginning to spread your branches. It may symbolize a baby that is about to come and that your family is beginning to grow. It may even symbolize multiple babies, children, or twins. A tree may also indicate that you will begin to branch out in your career and in the professional sense. You may be about to step out of your comfort zone and begin accepting new challenges. Additionally, a tree could mean that you need to take a look at the life you’ve built and make sure the roots are sturdy. Do you have a water source that is not the clearest? Have you been true to your faith and yourself? Is your root system strong? Do you have a friend that is untrue?
