As you can see, artists have depicted the Archangel Michael as a beautiful, taller-than-human figure and powerful in presence. In their depictions he is often shown to be an angel with his own localized form that takes up some space in unseen spiritual realms. Sometimes, angels will blend in with a crowd so as not to draw too much attention towards themselves or disrupt any potential chaos going on around them. Archangel’s appearance allowed him not to be seen so vividly.

The Bible refers to Michael as a “chief prince” amongst the heavenlies. He is also mentioned in the Book of Daniel multiple times, Daniel 10:13, where he is called "Michael, one of the chief princes," and in Daniel 12:1 where it mentions Archangel Michael protecting Israelites.
