The dove is a sign of freedom; freedom of speech is an essential aspect of freedom. At any point where we suffer restrictions, the presence of an eagle is a cue to break out and find our voices.

We speak up for ourselves to stop oppressors and tyrants who want to walk over us. Sometimes, people tend to take away our rights because they assume we cannot defend ourselves. Introverts suffer from this the most.

Their quietness is often mistaken for meekness. When these people try to make us walk over, we must find our voice and roar so loud that the entire jungle would quake. This way, they would know better than to mess with us next time.

Speak up for others

The divine realm might also be asking you to speak up for the vulnerable around you. They are asking you to defend the weak people that are being harassed and oppressed because they do not have the resources or capacity to defend themselves.

If their oppressors are within your league, challenge them on behalf of the divine realm, be rest assured you'd get divine backing.

You should speak up for yourself

Speaking assertively will let others know that your opinions are also important. It can also give you a confidence boost, especially if the oppressors cower at the sound of your voice.

Speaking up for yourself is both a skill and a talent-meaning that you can learn if you don't already know how to, you can learn. Here's how:

First of all, analyze the gravity of the situation at hand, and think about how best to approach it. Then, you should think about what you would like to say. We do not want you saying something you would regret or something that would land you in bigger trouble.

Your speech must exude confidence, intelligence, and doggedness. Wait for the right time to speak so that your words will have more effect. Also, you should observe the response you got after you spoke. Observe their body language and side comments.

Finding your voice has its perks

When you speak up for yourself, you not only rule out your oppressors, you can get the freedom and independence that you yearn for. That's not all. Others can draw courage from your brave and speak up for themselves as well.

When you speak up, you will be able to contribute to matters of importance and not just sit by and wait till laws are passed for you to abide by. Finding yourself would place you among the decision-makers, and this would go a long way in boosting your confidence.

If you've been in the same position at work for so many years, you can blame your stagnation on your inability to speak up. If you feel you deserve a raise, speak up. If you do not like how you're being treated, speak up. Voice out your ideas so that they can be implemented. Do not grumble under your breath. Speak up and show your disapproval. Your opinions matter!

Be courageous

Your oppressors may be older than you, stronger than you, or even smarter, but none of these gives them the right to trample on your rights. If you feel nervous to speak up for yourself, get some backup.

Find people in the same group as you and join forces and voices together. The impact that your combined voices can make will marvel you.

Get rid of the inferiority complex that's telling you you're not good enough to be heard. You're as much of a human as anyone else is and you deserve to be treated right.

Stay cautious

You must also note that, while speaking up for yourself has its perks, it also has a few downsides which you must be aware of and prepared for. Before you speak, observe the environment.

If there's a chance you can be harmed by the oppressors, you should take a step back and analyze your next step. As they say, a living sheep is better than a dead lion. You have to be alive and well to be the needed hero.
