At some point in our lives, we find ourselves asking the 'Who am I?'' question. At times like this, we are faced with the reality that we are yet to discover our purpose, goals, or achievements in life. For some, they may be thrown into existential crises that usually last for a long period.
We only have one precious shot at a lifetime. There are tales of reincarnation possibilities, yet, it's not a sure chance for everyone. The best moment of our lives is that point when we discover and realize who we are, and what we were put on earth to do.
Take control of your destiny
Some people argue that our lives have been predestined and we will only achieve what we have been fated to achieve. But, if this were true, is it likely that we would have the freedom of will and choice that we do now?
As humans, we have the opportunity to write our fate and destiny. We are allowed to make choices that will alter the remaining course of our lives and at the same time, we are grounded to bear the consequences of these choices.
Self-discovery is a process everyone has to undergo at some point in their life. Everything that we do or become in life depends on this process. But sadly, not everyone realizes the importance of this process, and these people live their entire lives as a mere shadow of what they could have been.
The divine realm does not want this for you. You were created to thrive and blossom to maximum capacity and they sent us the butterfly as a reminder that we need to level up. The entire process will be overwhelming, no doubt, but they guarantee us their presence and even offer to hold our hands all the way through.
Reflect on your past
Past occurrences tend to influence who or what we are up until the period of self-discovery. Take a bold step today, and analyze all of your past unspoken trauma. Reflect on all that has occurred in your life so far and identify those that have taken a toll on your personality.
Children are expected to be guarded against all forms of hostility for the sole reason that these experiences mold who they become in the future. It would be easier to shape their young minds, than for them to go through the arduous task of self-rediscovery, as the case may be, during their later years.
To become a better person, or a better adult, one would have to look back to the source of our destructive and limiting tendencies, this is the first step to gaining a mindful insight into why we feel and act the way we do. Thereafter, we can begin to alter our thoughts and actions to reflect the kind of person that we would like to become.
Recognize who you want to be
You cannot vaguely want to become a better person. Ask yourself what being a better person entails for you. What are the traits that you do not possess but would like to adopt? What's stopping you from becoming this person that you so admire?
You should also question all your thoughts and actions. Scrutinize them to see if they align with who you want to be. If they do not, you should make adjustments.
Employ the services of your inner critic to point out all the traits that are blocking your transformation. However, while you do not, you should endeavor to be kind to yourself. Do not allow your inner critic to paint you as a villain that cannot be redeemed.
The butterflies are enough proof that your redemption and transformation are not only possible but are close by as well. And often, you may have already begun this process without realizing it. That moment when you ask yourself the ''Who Am I?'' question, that's the point when your journey starts.
Embrace your inner energy
You're a champion. Always remember this, and say it to yourself often. Now, you may not already be the kind of champion that you want to be, but you're making an effort to transform your life, and that's one of the traits that champions possess.
Take charge of your life by accepting that we are the main actor in your story, and the best part of this story is that we get to write it ourselves. Develop the strength, self-assertion, confidence, and grit that the new you are expected to possess. Again, you're a champion, so you should identify as one.
