Negative emotions like stress, anger, frustration, sadness, and resentment are almost unavoidable. Our day-to-day lives will have some moments that may have us cracking a tear. Though negativity is not avoidable, letting these emotions linger in our hearts can have so many consequences on our lives.

As humans, we are prone to pain, whether it's physical or mental pain. Physical pain to an extent is easier to deal with and recover from. Mental pain on the other hand has a more overwhelming effect on the affected person. Most people who suffer it either refuse to acknowledge that they are suffering, or are completely ignorant of the fact that they suffer.

The second category of people is mostly those who were not thought how to process their emotions as children. When these people suffer mentally, they are oblivious to it and pass it off as a normal occurrence. They bear the load and hope that it goes away sometimes. Unfortunately, it hardly ever goes away.

Both professional health experts and your divine guides are advocates for your mental health.

Refusing to let go puts your mental health at risk

We are all advised to let go of every thought and emotion that dampens our mood.

When we let these emotions linger, they begin to merge with our other thoughts, and naturally, we begin to see ourselves in a negative light. These thoughts will filter into our subconscious mind, and by extension, we begin to see ourselves as lowly and unworthy of happiness.

Your divine guides see through your mental struggles. They want us to realize that happiness is on the other side of the fence. All we need to do is find a sledgehammer and pull down this brick wall that stands between us and happiness.

The thickness of this wall depends on how heavy the negative emotions that we harbor are. As we know, thinner walls will only require a slight push. But if the emotions are overwhelming, we would have to put in considerable effort to o cleanse our minds.

Sadness is an overwhelming emotion. A sad mind is unable to think, it does not see anything positive, and it sees no reason to engage in activities that bring happiness to the soul. Sadness can be triggered by violence, abuse, or any other trauma. There are numerous coping strategies for dealing with this trauma. Read further, and we'll lay out a list for you.

Allow yourself feel

It's not too late to learn how to process your emotions. Teach yourself how to feel and stop living in denial. It's completely normal to feel a wave of negative emotions sometimes. What's not okay is letting them settle or build a fort in your mind.

Do not shut them in, and neither should you shut them out. Open your mind and allow them to flow through. This way, you can learn and heal.

You should be gentle with yourself all through the process. Don't try to rush or force anything. Give yourself enough time to heal at a suitable pace. You're not in a competition.

Forgive yourself and move on

If the negativity you're harboring is against you, now's the time to have mercy on yourself. You've punished yourself enough. There's no need to go on with the longsuffering. Simply make the resolve to not repeat that action, and move on with your life.

You have to show yourself love and affection. Forgiving yourself is an act of love.

To show that you have completely let go of the grudge, you can begin to nurture and nourish your mind and soul which you have been neglecting all this while.

Seek professional help

It would be best if you reached out to a trained mental health expert to help you process and navigate your emotions. Contact a therapist and book a consultation service. If the situation warrants it, they would prescribe drugs or activities that would aid your recovery.

Recovery from mental trauma can be a journey. They would walk you through this journey while documenting your progress along the way. Your spirit guides won't leave you to your faith either. They are with you every step of the way. Even if you can't see them, the clouds in the sky are a sign of their solidarity and moral support.
